Tourist Attractions

1. Buseoksa Temple
Buseoksa Temple is home to one of Korea’s oldest wooden buildings, the “Muryangsujeon,” as well as five national treasures, six treasures, and two provincial tangible cultural heritages. It is one of the country's ten major temples.
2. Sobaeksan Mountain
Located in Sucheol-ri, Punggi-eup, Sobaeksan Mountain was designated as the 18th national park of Korea. Ever since, it has grown in reputation as a spiritual mountain and a sacred mountain of the Yeongnam region.
3. Sosu Seowon Confucian Academy
Built by Pungi Governor Ju Se-bung in the 38th year of King Jungjong’s reign of Joseon (1543 AD), Sosu Seowon Confucian Academy was the first-ever Confucian academy and also the first private Confucian academy in Korea. It fostered several renowned Confucian scholars throughout its history, and now it boasts an impressive collection of academic materials.
4. Seonbi Village
Seonbi Village is a place where you can learn about the spirit and work ethic of scholars from the Joseon Dynasty period.
5. Museom Village
Sudo-ri in Munsu-myeon is a traditional village that has managed to preserve its blend of beautiful nature and old houses. Naeseongcheon River surrounds the Village on three sides, which makes it look and feel like an island floating on the River.
6. Huibang Falls
Water from a deep valley below Yeonhwabong Peak at Sobaeksan Mountain snakes its way down the valley and ultimately reaches Huibang Falls, where the water forms a magnificent waterfall with a thunderous sound.
7. Jukgye Gugok
Jukgye Gugok Valley is famous for “Jukgye Byeolgok,” a song composed by An Chuk, a renowned sage and writer during the late-Goryeo Dynasty period, and it was also frequented by renowned Confucian scholars during the Joseon Dynasty period, such as Yi Hwang and Ju Se-bung.
8. Jungnyeong Yetgil Road
Jungnyeong Pass, located 696m above sea level at the depression in the mountain range that leads on to Sobaeksan Mountain’s Second Yeonhwabong Peak and Dosolbong Peak.
9. Sobaeksan Jarakgil Trail
Sobaeksan Mountain Jarakgil Trail was designated as a Cultural Eco Road with Stories by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2009.
10. Sampanseo Historic House
Sampanseo Historic House earned its name from the fact it served as the home of three “Panseo” government ministers in succession between the end of the Goryeo Dynasty to the beginning of the Joseon Dynasty.
